How to enable logging for an AWS Lambda job

When you create a new AWS Lambda job, logging is (inexplicably, to my thinking) not configured by default. I'm sure there's reasons for it, but considering this is a service where jobs run headless, it seems pretty important to be able to jump in and quickly see exactly why a job is failing.
